Westfalen filly
DOB May 8th, 2022
Gemini is a sweet and keen filly who possess a refined head, a short back and uphill gaits. She shows plenty of athletic abilities as she is already, at a few days of age, changing leads at the canter and jumping ground poles by herself.
Her sire, Grimoire d'Elphen, is part of this upcoming and promising new generation of colored stallions. He got an 8.25 out of 10 at free jumping at only 20 months old. This stallion has very good gaits, which he seems to pass on to his production. Grimoire is respectful over the fences, he jumps with good technique and balance. Grimoire already showed in the 1.25m in France as a 6 years old. His sire, Thunder Gesmeray, is by Limbo, another well knowned colored warmblood stallion. Balsamine Gesmeray, Thunder’s dam, has an ISO (jumping Index) of 150 which put her in the top 20% of the Selle Francais studbook. Grimoire’s dam, Dior D’Elphen, is by Arnac D’Elphen, who was already competing at 1.35m by the age of 7 years old.
Her dam, Quick Silver, is an impressive mare who possess a good constitution and a powerful engine. She competed up to 1.35m level before being sold to New Normandy Farm where she produced two foals (NNF is keeping one of her filly). She impressed us by her sweet nature as well as her clean and solid legs despite her competition career. Her sire, Quick Star, was the horse who brought Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum into the Grand Prix league with many placings and wins. He is approved in 20 studbooks and is one of the best sire of current showjumping winners. At the 2012 London Olympics, Quick Star was one of the most influential sires, with two sons in the final individual top ten: Nick Skelton’s Big Star who lead the British team to gold, and Ian Millar’s Star Power.
Her second dam, Rye Grass Sadowy, was born in Argentina and served as a broodmare in Chile. Her sire, Schiron Z, is a direct son of the famous Cor de la Bryère out of Rubina Z (Ramiro x Alme). Rubina Z is the full sister of the 1.60m jumper Riviera Z and the 1.50m jumper Raspoetin Z. Schiron competed up to the 1.50m level in Argentina, produced 3 approved sons and a few 1.60m jumpers.
Her third dam, Dorinne, was born in Belgium. Her sire is the Selle Français stallion Ferrum (Quelqu'un x Mexico). Ferrum produced the 1.60m jumper Baltimore.
Her fourth dam, Petra, is a daughter of the famous Lugano van la Roche. Lugano produced 28 approved sons and many 1.60m jumpers. One of his most famous offsprings is the legendary Darco who is an accomplished show jumping sires and competed in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.
