Grimoire d'Elphen - Quick Star - Schiron Z
15.3h 2022 Tobiano Westfalen filly
Proven performance bloodlines in an eye-catching tobiano pattern — Gemini QTM offers pedigree and color without compromise.
Gemini QTM is a bold, athletic young broodmare with a strong, compact build and the unmistakable presence of her damline. She has a keen mind, plenty of energy, and the type of forward, ground-covering stride and natural balance that make her a great match for a jumper-focused breeding program. Her type, power, and stamina reflect her Quick Star heritage that make her a compelling addition to a modern sport horse breeding program.
Her sire, Grimoire d’Elphen, is part of a promising new generation of colored stallions. At just 20 months, he earned 8.25/10 in free jumping and later competed in 1.25m classes in France. Since his import to the U.S., Grimoire has successfully competed in the 3'6'' Green Hunters in 2023 and stepped up to the 3'9'' Green Hunters for 2024, including appearances in hunter derbies. He demonstrates excellent technique, natural balance, and expressive movement—traits he consistently passes to his offspring. His sire, Thunder Gesmeray (by Limbo), comes from a high-performance damline: his dam Balsamine Gesmeray holds an ISO of 150, placing her in the top 20% of the Selle Français studbook. Grimoire’s dam, Dior d’Elphen, is by Arnac d’Elphen, who was competing at 1.35m by the age of 7.
Her dam, Quick Silver, competed successfully up to 1.35m before joining the broodmare band at New Normandy Farm, where she produced two foals—one of which was retained by the program. She is a robust and scopey mare with a generous temperament and outstanding soundness post-career. Her sire, Quick Star, was a Grand Prix sensation under Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and has gone on to become one of the most successful sires in modern show jumping, with offspring like Big Star and Star Power shining on the world stage, including at the 2012 London Olympics.
Gemini’s second dam, Rye Grass Sadowy, was bred in Argentina and served as a broodmare in Chile. She is by Schiron Z, a direct son of Cor de la Bryère out of Rubina Z (Ramiro x Almé). Rubina Z is the full sister to 1.60m jumper Riviera Z and 1.50m jumper Raspoetin Z. Schiron himself jumped to 1.50m and produced multiple approved sons and top sport horses.
Her third dam, Dorinne, was sired by Ferrum (Quelqu’un x Mexico), a Selle Français stallion known for producing high-level jumpers, including the 1.60m performer Baltimore.
The fourth dam, Petra, was by the legendary Lugano van la Roche, one of Belgium’s foundational sires. Lugano produced 28 approved sons, including Darco, a world-class competitor and one of the most influential sires in show jumping history.
