Quick Star - Schiron Z - Ferrum
15.3h 2007 Selle Français mare
Registered SOFO
Approved Mare Book I with the Westfalen NA
Quick Silver is a well-bred jumper mare who shows a lot of substance, elasticity in movements, and a powerful engine. She competed up to the 1.35m level before being sold to New Normandy Farm, where she produced two foals (NNF is keeping one of her fillies). She impressed us with her sweet nature as well as her clean and solid legs despite her competition career.
Quick Silver’s sire is the legendary Quick Star. Quick Star was the horse who brought Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum into the Grand Prix league. The team won the Grand Prix of Maastricht (1992), the Grand Prix of Mannheim (1993), the Pulsar Crown Grand Prix of Aachen (1994) and the GP of München (1994). The stallion’s total earnings exceeded €500,000. Quick Star was a very popular sire due to the great performances of his offspring in the show ring. He is approved in 20 studbooks and is one of the best sires of current showjumping winners. His most renowned offspring include Big Star, Orient Express, Quick Ardent, Quick Study, Star Power, Niagara d Elle, Marjolaine d Elle, Sprehe Stella, Quilot Z, Quick Lauro Z, Quincy Z, Quality Touch Z, Quatrin de la Roque, Ninio de Rox, Notrestar dela Nutria, Popstar Lozonais, and Qantar des Etisses (acquired by McLain Ward). At the 2012 London Olympics, Quick Star was one of the most influential sires, with two sons in the final individual top ten: Nick Skelton's Big Star, who led the British team to gold, and Ian Millar's Star Power.
Her dam, Rye Grass Sadowy, was born in Argentina and served as a broodmare in Chile. Her sire, Schiron Z, is a direct son of the famous Cor de la Bryère out of Rubina Z (Ramiro x Alme). Rubina Z is the full sister of the 1.60m jumper Riviera Z and the 1.50m jumper Raspoetin Z. Schiron competed up to the 1.50m level in Argentina, produced 3 approved sons and a few 1.60m jumpers.
Her second dam, Dorinne, was born in Belgium. Her sire is the Selle Français stallion Ferrum (Quelqu'un x Mexico). Ferrum produced the 1.60m jumper Baltimore.
Her third dam, Petra, is a daughter of the famous Lugano van la Roche. Lugano produced 28 approved sons and many 1.60m jumpers. One of his most famous offspring is the legendary Darco who is an accomplished show jumping sires and competed in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.
